The Canadian Parrot Symposium was formed in 1997 and held its first Symposium in 1998. Th Canadian Parrot Symposium was formed through an inspiration from Jacquie Blackburn's Canadian Parrot Symposium East. Until this year we called our event the Canadian Parrot Symposium West. However, with the closure of the Canadian Parrot Symposium East Society and the blessing of Jacquie Blackburn, we have dropped the "West" and just call our event the Canadian Parrot Symposium. (We are pleased to hear that subsequently to the CPSE Society closing shop, an enthusiastic group of parrot lovers continued the tradition of an annual parrot gathering in the East calling their event the Canadian Parrot Conference).
The Canadian Parrot Symposium calls Victoria, BC, Canada its home and presents its symposiums here at the lovely Dunsmuir Lodge. A small hands-on Board of Directors manages the Canadian Parrot Symposium.
The Canadian Parrot Symposium has had nine successful
symposiums to date and have an exciting one planned for this year. Each
year between 50 and 80 people
were in attendance to hear the speakers present on a wide variety of topics.
Each symposium includes an impressive line up of speakers who generally presented
twice during the weekend and are available for informal conversations.
