Brian Speer


Brian is a Veterinarian in private practice in Oakley California, at the Medical Center for Birds, where clinical caseload is limited exclusively to avian species. Brian has served as chair of the Aviculture Committee for the Association of Avian Veterinarians, on their board of directors, and is 1999-2000 past-president. He currently serves as a consultant for the Veterinary Information Network and chairs the AAV aviculture committee. Brian is well published in numerous veterinary conference proceedings nationally and internationally, has served as guest editor for a number of veterinary journals and texts, and has authored a number of peer-reviewed journal articles. He is the co-author of The Large Macaws, Thier Care, Breeding and Conservation, and co-author of Birds for Dummies. He is the recipient of the Lafeber Practitioner Award (2003) and the Speaker of the Year at the North American Veterinary Conference (2006).
